It’s one thing to dream big but it’s completely surreal when you start to live out your dream. I started Girls’ Guide To… a year ago but it has been a work in progress since I was in college. I wanted to create a talk show for young women then after graduation began to write a book for girls my own age. A major bout of writer’s block, a drastic move into the corporate world, and an understanding of the new face of media… I took the advice of an old friend to “jfdi” – “Just F–king Do It!” So I did… I had a handfull of content from the unfinished book and figured that by the time my writing partner, Simone, and I finally got around to publishing it; our book would be outdated. Besides which, what better way than the Web would allow us to reach our audience? But that was only a tiny piece of the equation… Of course we wanted to reach them but we wanted to give them the opportunity to reach us and most importantly each other. We envisioned Girls’ Guide To… becoming a community for young women about the “good, bad, and ugly” of high school, college, and life in their 20s. A place that let them be free to ask their questions, seek advice, and share their stories from dorm disasters, personalized style secrets, sex secrets, to decorating a first appartment, doing a keg stand, and understanding football…. We set out to create a Girls’ Guide To… Everything She Needs to Know!
